"Jan is a bit like Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood—except for parents with young kids. Easy to listen to and helpful in kind ways."
Hi! My name is Jan Talen.
I have been a marriage and family therapist for over 35 years, and a wife and mom for a bit more than that.
I also enjoy 10 bouncing, young grandkids.
The lives of my clients (married couples and families) are full of stress and tension.
Often that D word (divorce) gets tossed around as a threat or for real. The pain and fear of not being married forever while they parent together is real.
I know some of that fear as well as my husband and I worked diligently, sometimes with significant messes, to manage all the things that come with marriage and family. And now, I watch my children work to hang onto their marriages while they all try to raise their kiddo’s well.
I know this, experience it and have helped so many dads and moms, husbands and wives, lead their families from this edge of fear and chaos into spaces of calm and connectedness.
Where home becomes predictably safe, trustworthy, and fun. It’s good for you and for everyone!
"My 3-year-old did not like bedtime—well, that’s putting it mildly. Jan helped us figure out the “One Last Thing” question and that was the key to transitioning bedtime from chaos to calm. "
